Agrokor, the leading concern in the region, continually invests into the development of new products. Particular attention is paid to the products with added value for the consumers.
A project in development of pork with a high content of omega 3 fatty acids started in Belje last year in the cooperation with the experts from the Agricultural College. Such meat contains a more favourable ratio of fatty acids Ω6 – Ω3. Thus, it is classified as new functional food, among the first of the meat products.
Contemporary feeding technology used by Belje on its hog-breeding farms, enabled scientific research which proved that special feeding technologies influence the ratio of fatty acids in pork.
After the research phase had finished, the project entered the experimental production phase which is going to last up to one year. When the results f the research are confirmed in the experimental production, the new line of functional pork products is going to be launched.
New trends in the production and consumption of food will grant the high nutritive value pork a place on domestic as well as EU market, as Agrokor was among the first to start production of such pork.
State-of-the-art technologies and selected crops of the controlled quality from Belje fields are used in the production of the meat. Sustainable technologies which guaranty a valuable, safe and high quality product are used through the whole production chain, from the primary production to the processing industry.
