In total 101 samples of the best dry and predicate Graschevinas from all vineyards in Slavonia, Međimurje and County zagrebačka were evaluated during the Festival. The evaluation committee was made up of the best connoisseurs of Graschevina, oenologists and wine producers from continental Croatia. They declared the dry premium Graschevina from Wine cellars Belje the CHAMPION OF THE FESTIVAL. Mr Ivan Škorić, the CEO of Belje received the award on behalf of Belje on the award ceremony. At that occasion, Belje CEO, Mr Ivan Škorić pointed out that the 2006 vintage was a truly gold vintage for Belje because the wine is of exceptional quality, which is verified by three gold medals and the champion title. With Agrokor becoming the shareholder in Wine cellars Belje the progress of Belje wines started with improvements in the quality, the packaging design and distribution. As the wine of the 2006 vintage is ready to be bottled, all wine lovers will soon have the opportunity to enjoy the champion Graschevina and other selected wines from Wine cellars Belje.
On the award ceremony and the announcement of the champion of Graschevina held in Kutjevo, it was repeatedly pointed out that Graschevina is a very common sort, and represents as much as 70% of all white wine sorts in the continental Croatia. It is also the best selling wine and an important export article. This gives the champion title a special significance.
