After Belje has successfully completed employees’ training and has implemented the quality control system and environmental management system, the Director of Bureau Veritas Croatia, the certifying house, Mr Tomo Agustinović has given Mr Goran Pajnić, General manager of Belje, the certificates for ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004.
In practice, this is an integrative management system which consists of the two management standards. ISO 9001:2000 is internationally accepted management standard which offers effective management tools that ensure a wide range of organizational benefits. Quality management system of Belje is huge compared to other Croatian companies, as it includes farming on about 20,000 ha, diverse stock breeding activities on 23 farms, as well as 511 ha of vineyards and 64 ha of orchards, processing capacities in the Fodder plant, the Mill, Belje Vinery, the Dairy, as well as in Baranjka (kulen and bacon producing plant). ISO 9001:2000 shows the orientation of the Belje management towards quality in all processes. The role of customers, their feedback and satisfaction play a very important part.
Quality control is based on traceability, from raw materials and packaging to final products. This means that every product that reaches the market and is made in Belje, goes through a series of controls.
Environmental management system which is implemented in Belje according to ISO 14001:2004 standard includes 23 different locations which ask for environmental attention, including farming and stock-breeding, wine production, fruit growing, as well as processing capacities, with all their specific qualities. The standard originates in a comprehensive judgment of all the aspects of influence on the environment, which are a consequence of production processes. It also includes prevention and solving environmental problems, along with respecting the law.
By the implementation of these management standards, Belje shows today its orientation towards quality, as well as its awareness of the environment, and its determination to consistently implement and apply environmental corporate culture and the sustainability principle.
Starting from today, complete management system of Belje is richer for two very useful internationally accepted management standards, and in the future, Belje is surely going to benefit from them. Belje, as the biggest business in this region, has, by following the international trends and standards, demonstrated its thoughtfulness, competence and its stage of development.
