World school milk day was created in 2000 by the organization of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture and is marked with various events, activities and workshops focused on the topic of milk throughout the world.
This year’s celebration was organized in the cooperation of Belje and the Nature park Kopački rit in order to remind the school children of the importance of milk in every-day diet. Healthy eating habits are formed in the early childhood and parents and teachers can contribute significantly to the education of children in healthy diet in schools.
A workshop, a presentation, a milk eco quiz and the tasting of milk and Belje dairy products were organized in the bio-eco unit at the castle Tikveš on September 24, 2008. Pupils from several schools from Baranja participated with their drawings, performances and plays on the topic of milk. On their way to the bio-eco unit, the children stopped at the eco-center “In accordance with the nature” and observed the cows on the pasture.
