The cutting-edge process of hog breeding which started in Belje by the opening of the nucleus farm Brod Pustara and the opening of the piglet farm in Malo Kneževo, continues with the today’s opening of hog-breeding farm in Kozarac. The farm in Kozarac is the first newly opened hog-breeding farm in Belje, while there are several other hog-breeding farms in Belje in different stages of construction.
The capacity of the farm in Kozarac is 12,000 pigs in a single production cycle, i.e. 34,000 pigs are going to be delivered annually. During the trial period, excellent results were achieved on the farm (average breeding period of 85 days, food conversion of 2.6 kg, daily growth of 900g, meat unit 60, deaths under 1%). Following the current trends in hog-breeding, the farm in Kozarac is equipped with the most sophisticated technology for production, and special attention has been paid to the environmental standards. Three in-door storages for manure of total capacity of 13,509 m3 are a proof of that.
Total investment into the buildings, infrastructure, and the most sophisticated equipment is worth 50 million kuna. The farm is completely adjusted to the current environmental standards, as well as to the ISO regulations and Global GAP standards.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Krunoslav Kovačić, CEO of cattle-breeding pointed out that “ Bio-security measures and the health status of animals on the farm Kozarac are at the highest possible level, enabling us to achieve highest international results in the breeding process, and contributing to the supervision of environmental protection.
