World Gold Medal for BELJE Grashevina
At the world wine evaluation Mundus VINI, the high quality Grashevina of Podrumi Belje (Belje Wine Cellars), which received the Gold Medal, was the best evaluated wine coming from Croatia.

Mundus VINI is the greatest officially recognized international wine evaluation under the sponsorship of OIV that was held for the 8th subsequent year in Neustadt, Germany. From year to year, ever increasing number of wine samples is submitted for evaluation at the world level so that, this year, 5,726 wine samples coming from the most important wine-growing regions in the world were evaluated.
 
The evaluation jury for 2009 consisted of 275 members, including some of the most famous world enologists, sommeliers, scientists, wine journalists and wine representatives coming from 45 countries of the world. 

Several Croatian wine producers with their selected wines participated together with most eminent world wine producers. Belje Wine cellars received the best appraisal and the only Gold Medal among the Croatian wines, with their high quality Riesling wine from the 2008 vintage.
Belje Wine cellars is the largest Croatian grape producer from its own vineyards and one of most awarded domestic wine producers in the last years. Along the southern slopes of the hill Banovo brdo in Baranja, there are immense hectares of vineyards with the predominance of the Grashevina sort of grape with its recognizable properties. The Belje high quality Grashevina from the 2008 vintage has already glittered this year at the Grashevina Festival in Kutjevo where it was pronounced for the best wine and the Mundus VINI Gold Medal only confirmed the exceptionality of this wine at the world level.
